What's Live Sync?

Live Sync is the feature that allows you to synchronize the start of content playback between multiple displays.
Synchronization occurs every time a new playback starts and is automatically repeated at each restart.

A Syncwall represents an instant Live Sync: This is a group of displays that need to start playing in perfect sync.

To create a Syncwall, go to the Apps > Live Sync menu.

Within the app you can:
  1. Create a new Syncwall
  2. Click on an existing Syncwall to edit or activate it

How to create a new Syncwall

Click on "Create a new Live Sync".

Assign a name to the Syncwall.

Select the displays you want to synchronize.
After creating it, you can choose whether to activate it immediately using the dedicated button. If activated, the displays will start syncing right away. If they are already playing a playlist, they will wait for all displays to finish before starting the next one together. During this waiting phase, some displays may temporarily appear black — this is completely normal and simply means they are waiting for the others.

Once created, the Syncwall can be activated on demand, only in specific contexts and with selected content, using the Scenarios app or via the Flow.

If you need more information on how to use it, contact us at assistenza@livesignage.com.

How does Live Sync Work?

When a Syncwall is active, all involved displays know to sync when playback starts.
The process follows a very precise cycle:
  1. Before starting, each display communicates with the cloud and waits for the others to be ready.
  2. As soon as every display is in sync, the cloud sends a common start signal, so playback starts simultaneously.
  3. At the end of the playlist, the displays communicate with the cloud again and wait together for the cycle to restart.
This mechanism repeats automatically, ensuring constant synchronization between all devices and correcting any accumulated delays in real time.

Requirements to use Live Sync correctly:

  1. All displays must be assigned to the same Syncwall
  2. All displays must be online and correctly connected to internet
  3. Any display can be included in only one active Syncwall at a time

To make the best use of Live Sync, you should keep the following in mind:

  1. Active internet connection
The correct functioning of the Syncwall requires a constant connection to the internet. If a display loses network, the other devices will wait on the background color provided by the playlist. After a short timeout, playback will continue automatically.
  2. Consistent playlist duration
To maintain smooth sync, it is recommended that all playlists involved have the same duration. Differences in timing may cause delays or visual misalignments between displays.
  3. Different brands or models displays
Syncing also works between heterogeneous devices. However, it is useful to know that displays of very different brands or generations may have slightly different start-up times, with possible perceptible deviations at the beginning of playback.
